Featuring SMA Inverters - Although all SMA Inverters are manufactured in Germany, SMA America was founded in 2000 located in Grass Valley, California. SMA is the largest grid tied inverter manufacture in the world, with over 1800 employees and 3GW of installed inverters. SMA has sold more inverters than the next three competitors combined. Their customer service is top-notch as well with a standard 72 hour turn around time on purchase orders. Twenty-five years ago renewable energy was hardly discussed, and it was an uphill struggle to convince people that homes, businesses, and institutions could actually generate their own electricity, either for primary usage or backup in the event of grid failures (a.k.a., blackouts). The rise of technology, coupled with increasing petroleum costs, helped to change that perception. Taking advantage of considerable research and development investment (with 250 engineers on staff, SMA devotes ten percent of its revenue to research), SMA was able to achieve previously unimaginable efficiencies in power conversion (the process of changing photovoltaic cells' native direct current into utility-compatible alternating current), up to an astonishing 98 percent. In 1996, SMA launched the Sunny Boy line of inverters, which would quickly become the most popular line in the world. By the turn of the 21st century, opportunities were presenting themselves across the globe. The needs of the American market are different from those in Europe; subsidy programs such as the California Solar Initiative make factors such as ease-of-installation and monitoring capability paramount. Thus, the latest Sunny Boy product line was designed and launched especially for the U.S. market, enabling SMA America to grow its market share to over 50 percent. And although SMA America focuses on - and dominates - the under-20-kilowatt sector, the company is aiming higher, with larger, commercial grade products ready for launch. The SMA Sunny PRO Club is a professional partnership agreement that gives rapid access to technical assistance and support. AAASolar Source has been a member in good standing of the Sunny PRO Club since October, 2007, your guarantee for top quality service and components. |
