Photovoltaic or PV is a technology that converts light, which is composed of elementary particles called photons, directly into electricity. To explain the photovoltaic solar panel in simple terms, the photons from the sunlight knock electrons into a higher state of energy, creating direct current (DC) electricity.![]() In the solar panel or an array (many panels connected in series), the DC current is sent to an inverter to convert the DC current to AC current to meet our every day electrical needs. A quick disconnect is provided between the panel array and the inverter and between the inverter and breaker box as shown below: ![]() PHOTOVOLTAIC ELECTRICITY can reverse your electric meters on a grid-tied system to pay back owners as long as the sun shines. When the system makes more power than it uses, it sends the surplus out to the grid and spins the meter BACKWARDS! ![]() After dark, the grid supplies power back to the facility, home, school or business. The customer significantly reduces electric bills during the year. The owner also has the option of installing a BATTERY BACKUP SYSTEM to save the access electricity produced during the day so it will be available during times with minimal sun availability. Solar panels continue to improve and have now been around since the fifties. Solar Source always uses the highest quality PV with warranties of 25 years and an expected life of 40+ years. Solar PV is in the forefront of the “Green” movement to provide economically sustainable clean, safe, affordable energy independence. Because of its ease of scalability, many PV customers elect to start with a small affordable system knowing that they can continue to add and grow the system over time. Solar Source has mastered nearly every difficult mounting condition during its 25 years of solar industry experience. We have non-penetrating commercial solutions for metal roofs and most flat roof designs; mounting hardware for every type of ground solar farm application including commercial car park designs and expertise with installing on tile, shingle or concrete roof structures. We look forward to working with you either directly as your contractor or though one of our many skilled Florida dealers. PV Kits are also available for the do-it-your-self installer. |
